Upper Dublin >> Disney’s “High School Musical Jr.” is coming to the Upper Dublin High School Performing Arts Center Jan. 17 and 18, 2 p.m. Tickets for the performances at the theater, 800 Loch Alsh Ave., are $10 children and seniors, $12 adults, and can be purchased online or at the door.
The children’s theater performance by the UDHS theater group is a shorter version of the Disney “High School Musical” movie, according to UDHS drama teacher and director Nicole Gerenyi. The story has a romance plot and revolves around thespians, brainiacs and jocks at a high school.
“It’s high school life in a nutshell, according to Disney,” she said.
The play, a student-run production with 34 students in the cast, is geared toward all ages, said Gerenyi, who mentors and monitors the production.
About 10 years ago, Upper Dublin High School’s theater group was one of the first companies to put on the original longer version, she said.
Gerenyi, who is new to the school and program this year, said she was “very proud” of the students and “all their hard work.”
“It’s going to be a great show.”
