DAMAGE/THEFT — A severe thunderstorm led to the collapse of the roof at the Acme market, 1640 Bethlehem Pike, leaving a 40-by-40-foot hole, at 4 a.m. June 20, police said. Some staff were in the store when the roof collapsed, but no one was injured and the market remained closed as of June 24, police said.
At 7:07 p.m. June 20, a white male wearing a tan hat, white T-shirt and black shorts, claiming to be from a welding company dealing with the damage, stole cartons of cigarettes in plastic bags and fled in a black pickup truck, police said. When observed in the store by an employee who called out to him, he said he was retrieving his hard hat, police said.
THEFT — A resident of the 8500 block of Trumbauer Drive, Wyndmoor, reported at 3:50 p.m. June 20, that a purchase, valued at $695, made on eBay, was shipped to the victim’s home, but was never received, police said.
RETAIL THEFT — A woman and juvenile stole three boxes of Pampers diapers and 12 cartons of Similac advanced powder, valued at a total of $309.23, from the Giant food store, 1874 Bethlehem Pike, Flourtown, at 1:31 p.m. June 15 and left in a black sedan, police said. An investigation is continuing.
HIT & RUN — A vehicle northbound on Virginia Drive at 8:31 a.m. June 18 entered the intersection with Susquehanna Road on a green light and was struck by a navy blue, two-door, sporty-looking Hyundai sedan eastbound on Susquehanna that failed to stop, police said. The striking vehicle left its front bumper behind, police said.
ASSAULT — Abdel W. Alaussos, 48, of Horsham, was arrested June 16 and charged with simple assault, harassment, recklessly endangering another person, possession of an instrument of crime and endangering the welfare of children, according to online court records. He was arraigned and released on $5,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 22.
WARRANT — Maurice Jackson, 36, of the 1300 block of DeKalb Street, Norristown, was taken into custody on an outstanding Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department warrant charging him with assault, following a traffic stop at 11:40 a.m. June 20 at DeKalb Pike and Jolly Road, police said.
RETAIL THEFT — Denzel Bussie, 26, of the 200 block of West Franklin Street, Morrisville, was cited for retail theft at 3:35 p.m. June 20, after stealing a $30 shirt from Kohl’s department store, 1301 Skippack Pike, police said.
