Update: Burglar turns himself in to Abington police

The Abington man who has become known as the “naked burglar” turned himself in to Abington police Aug. 4.
Michael Victor, 52, of the 2000 block of Chester Avenue, told police he “knew that I would eventually get caught and things would come to a head. I knew that I broke laws and that I had to correct it,” police said.
According to police, Victor lives directly next to the house he burglarized on July 31, and had been drinking heavily before the incidents. He told police that he had consumed four or five 24-ounce beers and three-quarters of a quart of vodka.
Victor told police that he is an alcoholic and is on prescription medication.
According to police, Victor said he went next door and entered through an unlocked door on the side of the home. Once inside, he realized he was naked and took a white sleeveless top and either a skirt or slip from the woman living there.
Leaving the home he burglarized, Victor broke into an apartment building across the street and attempted to open doors on the first and second floor before finding one unlocked, police said.
The apartment Victor entered was that of four female Penn State Abington students. He ransacked the apartment and took a Toshiba laptop that belonged to one of the women living there, according to police.
Police said a woman living down the hall heard a loud noise and discovered Victor in the apartment. Victor, again missing his clothes, fled the scene carrying the stolen clothes and computer. He was caught on the building’s surveillance cameras before and after entering the apartment.
Victor also left a set of keys in the apartment, which he identified to police as the keys from his job as a custodian for the Philadelphia School District.
Police said Victor’s wife turned over the stolen Toshiba laptop, along with two sets of women’s underwear belonging to the victims. Victor also told police where to find the top and a smashed brandy snifter he took from the home.
Victor is being held on charges of burglary, criminal attempt, criminal trespass, theft, indecent exposure, criminal mischief and harassment.
