Harleysville Halloween Parade set for Oct. 24

Join the fun at this year’s Harleysville Halloween Parade on Saturday, October 24. Registration and line-up will start at 9:30 a.m. at the Indian Valley Middle School on Maple Avenue, where the parade will begin at 11 a.m. Judging will take place in the middle school parking lot at 10:30 a.m. – just prior to parade kick-off. Marchers will take Maple Avenue to Main St. (Sumneytown Pike). The parade ends at the Harleysville Community Center where food will be served and prizes awarded. There is no rain date for the parade.

Prizes will be awarded to the best of these categories: Babies and Toddlers; Pre-K & Kindergarten; Grades 1 – 3; Grades 4 – 6; Individuals  & Groups; Marching Units; MotorizedFloats; Non-Motorized Floats; new this year is a Pets category.

Lower Salford Police Department, in conjunction with the United States Marine Corps, will collect Toys for Tots along the parade route. Attendees are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys to contribute. Toys may also be dropped off in advance of the parade at Sue DePaul Allstate, 453 Main St., Harleysville. Cash donations are accepted as well. Checks should be made payable to Harleysville Rotary and sent to Sue DePaul Allstate at the above address. For information on the toy collection for disadvantaged children, contact Sue DePaul, 215-256-1000, suedepaul@allstate.com.  

Should a weather-related cancellation be necessary, it will be announced on the morning of the parade on radio station WNPV 1440 AM.
