Ambler

Vehicle struck … A resident of the 200 block of Southern Avenue reported her vehicle was stuck overnight Oct. 20, police said. There was damage to the driver’s side door and fender, and the incident is under investigation, police said.

Vandalism … A vehicle parked on the 300 block of Walnut Street was keyed overnight Oct. 22, and damages were valued at $550, police said.

Disorderly conduct … Malik Johnson, 36, of the 1000 block of Nolen Road, Abington, was arrested Oct. 23 and issued a citation for disorderly conduct for a small amount of marijuana, police said. Johnson was placed into custody and transported to the station, police said. Johnson was then turned over to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department because of an active warrant, police said.

Vandalism … A property manager of a location on the 100 block of West Butler Avenue reported the building was vandalized overnight Oct. 23, police said. A glass pane had been smashed by a large rock in two places, and the incident is under investigation, police said.

Vehicle struck … A resident of the 100 block of Ellen Way reported his vehicle was struck Oct. 25 while he was in a business on the unit block of Butler Avenue, police said. The incident is under investigation, police said.

Upper Dublin

Theft … The right rear window of a vehicle parked in the 500 block of Madison Avenue, Fort Washington, was smashed out overnight Oct. 22 and a compressor was taken from inside the vehicle, police said.

ID theft … An Oreland woman reported Oct. 22 that someone had attempted to take out a loan with TD Bank in her name, police said. The woman was aware of the attempt after receiving a letter from the bank telling her the loan was denied, police said.

ID theft … An Oreland man reported Oct. 21 that someone had opened an account using his name and Social Security number with The Dish Network, police said, and owed $400 on it.

Theft … Two flags were stolen from the third floor of the Upper Dublin High School between 11 a.m. Oct. 16 and noon Oct. 17, police said. A British national flag and Brazilian national flag, each valued at $30, were taken from outside some classrooms, police said.

Theft … Two silver Nikon Cool Pix LII cameras, valued at $200 each, were taken from a desk inside the Technology Education Office at Sandy Run Middle School between June 19 and Oct. 12, police said. The theft was not noticed until recently, police said.

DUI pending … Charges of driving under the influence are pending against Francis Goodmote, 21, of the 1100 block of Tyson Avenue, Abington, following a one-vehicle accident Oct. 24 on Welsh Road near Prudential Drive, police said. An officer found Goodmote’s vehicle disabled on Welsh at 3:12 a.m. and an investigation showed that the vehicle partially left the lanes eastbound on Welsh, went across the grass and hit a plastic curb marker, came off the grass and curb, went across the intersection with East Prudential Drive, onto the curb and sidewalk and struck a traffic light and fire hydrant, went back on the road and continued eastbound to Kimball, where it became disabled, police said.

Goodmote showed signs of intoxication and appeared to be injured and was transported by Second Alarmers to Abington Memorial Hospital for treatment and a blood test, police said. Goodmote was treated and released, according to a hospital spokesman. DUI charges are pending the lab results, police said.

Property damage … A resident of the 700 block of Orlando Avenue, Oreland, damaged his garage around 6:30 p.m. Oct. 25 when his foot slipped off the brake onto the gas pedal as he tried to park in the garage, police said. The vehicle went through the wall of the garage, coming to rest against a tree in his backyard, police said.

Hit and run … The rear quarter panel of the driver’s side of a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Brookwood Drive, Ambler, was damaged by a hit and run driver overnight Oct. 23, police said. The striking vehicle was apparently dark green, according to debris left behind, police said.

Theft … A total of $850 worth of tools was stolen from a vehicle parked in the 400 block of Renfrew Avenue, Ambler, between 7:30 p.m. Oct. 22 and 1 p.m. Oct. 23, police said. The owner found the doors of his van unlocked, though he remembered locking the van, and items taken included: a green and black canvas bag, two red and black canvas bags, 10 chisels, a Ryobi chop saw, a DeWalt reciprocating saw, a Roto-Zip, a Bosch hammer drill with bits, a DeWalt circular saw, a Ryobi kit, and various screw drivers and socket heads, police said.

Two injured … Helen A. Matt, 70, of the 1500 block of Campus Drive, Maple Glen, was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 4:23 p.m. Oct. 23 at Limekiln Pike and Bell Lane, police said. Coltrane L. Cupid, 29, of the 200 block of South Spring Garden Street, Ambler, was slightly injured, police said. Cupid was southbound on Limekiln when Matt, who had stopped for the stop sign northbound on Limekiln, pullout out and attempted to turn left in Cupid’s path and he struck her vehicle, police said. Matt, who was cited for a left-turn violation, was transported by Ambler Ambulance to Abington Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and released, according to a hospital spokesman.

Two hurt … Denise S. Kaiser, 41, of the 1400 block of Joel Drive, Ambler; and Guillermo Hernandez-Ascencio, 39, of the unit block of West 5th Street, Bridgeport, were injured Oct. 20 in a two-vehicle accident on Jarrettown Road near Tuckerstown Road, police said. Hernandez-Ascencio was northbound on Jarrettown at 1:52 p.m. when Kaiser, who was southbound, crossed the double yellow lines in a curve in the road and struck his vehicle, police said. Kaiser, who was cited for a moving violation, said she was distracted when a bug flew into her eye, police said. Both were transported by Ambler Ambulance to Abington Memorial Hospital, where both were treated and released, according to a hospital spokesman.

Man injured … Matthew F. Ryan, 47, of the 200 block of Brookdale Circle, Dresher, was injured Oct. 19 when he was thrown off his Harley motorcycle on Virginia Drive near Susquehanna Road, police said. Ryan stopped westbound on Susquehanna at the light at 2:12 p.m. and his motorcycle stalled, and after he restarted it and was turning, the throttle got stuck and he hit the curb and was thrown from the bike, police said. He was transported by Ambler Ambulance to Abington Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released, according to a hospital spokesman.

Driver cited … Edward A. Weinberg, 57, of the unit block of Rucker Drive, Richboro, was cited for a stop sign violation following a two-vehicle accident at 7:30 a.m. Oct. 19 at Loch Alsh Avenue and Douglass Street, police said. Verna J. Tweddale, 59, of the 600 block of Meadowbrook Avenue, Ambler, was southbound on Douglass when Weinberg, who was westbound on Loch Alsh, stopped at the stop sign but then entered the intersection and collided with Tweddale’s vehicle, police said. Weinberg said he did not see the other vehicle until impact, police said.

No injuries were reported.

Driver cited … Joshua D. Prunetto, 18, of the 300 block of Ormandy Place, Ambler, will be cited for a left-turn violation following a two-vehicle accident Oct. 19 at Cedar Road and Loch Alsh Avenue, police said. Julie L. Newman, 49, of the 200 block of Mattison Avenue, Ambler, was northbound on Cedar at 7:17 a.m. when Prunetto, who was southbound, turned left in her path and she struck his vehicle, police said. Prunetto said he failed to see Newman’s vehicle, police said.

No injuries were reported.

Disorderly conduct … Jonathon Gates, 21, of the 800 block of Cherry Street, Lansdale, was cited for disorderly conduct following a traffic stop for an equipment violation at 12:56 p.m. Oct. 23 on DeKalb Pike at Tournament Drive, police said. The officer noticed a gun on the rear floor of the vehicle and an investigation revealed that it was a BB gun; officers also located a small amount of marijuana inside the vehicle, police said, and Gates was cited and released.

Underage drinking … Two 15-year-old females and a 17-year-old male, all of Blue Bell, will be cited for underage drinking after police were called to the 1200 block of Stenton Avenue at 9:43 p.m. Oct. 24 for a trespassing report, police said. The property owner decided not to press charges for trespassing, but all three had been drinking and were arrested for underage drinking, police said.

Disorderly conduct … A 17-year-old Blue Bell male was cited for disorderly conduct for possessing marijuana when the vehicle he was riding in was stopped at 8:12 p.m. Oct. 23 for speeding on Township Line Road at North Wales Road, police said. When the officer spoke to the driver, Victoria Varrese, 18, of Blue Bell, he noticed the passenger had marijuana residue on his lap and he was cited and released to his father who responded to the scene, police said. Varrese was cited for speeding, police said.

Public drunkenness … William Schmidt, 22, of the 300 block of Valley View Road, King of Prussia, was cited for public drunkenness after being stopped at 3:28 a.m. Oct. 25 while walking on Skippack Pike near Penllyn Pike, police said. Schmidt was obviously intoxicated and was taken into custody when he could not contact someone to come and pick him up and he was cited, police said.

DUI pending … Charges of driving under the influence are pending against David DeMedio, 24, of the unit block of Burnside Avenue, Norristown, following a traffic stop at 1:57 a.m. Oct. 24, police said. An officer who was traveling north on DeKalb Pike had to swerve onto the shoulder of the road to avoid being hit by DeMedio’s vehicle, which swerved into the northbound lane while traveling south, police said, and the officer pulled him over. DeMedio appeared to be intoxicated and he was taken to Suburban General Hospital for a blood test and charges including DUI and traffic violations are pending receipt of blood results, police said.
