Anthony Hensley caught four passes for 70 yards and three touchdowns and Julien Ireland rushed for 93 yards and another score as Abington battled from behind to defeat previously undefeated Pennsbury, 27-13, Friday night in Suburban One National Conference action at Schwarzman Stadium.

The Ghosts, who had lost in their last two games at home, fell behind in the first quarter when Pennsbury’s Eric Williams returned an interception 81 yards for a touchdown and back Dante Devine ran 53 yards for another to give the Falcons a 13-0 less than seven minutes into the game.

But Abington turned a bad Pennsbury punt snap into a 13-yard Phil Kind-to-Hensley touchdown pass at 10:19 of the second quarter and the Ghosts were in control the rest of the way.

Hensley gave Abington the lead at 7:01 of the quarter when he turned what was supposed to be a short pass to gain a first down into a 37-yard touchdown play, then Ireland completed a seven-play drive with a 1-yard touchdown run with 58 seconds left to give the Ghosts a 20-13 lead at intermission.

Abington sealed the victory with 3:16 left in the fourth quarter when Kind threw a 9-yard fade pass to Hensley for a touchdown.

Kind completed 16 of 25 passes for 203 yards, seven of those to junior Rich Johnson for 80 yards, four to Hensley and three to tight end Giuliano Presta for 48 yards.

The Ghosts, now 6-2 overall and 4-2 in conference play, finish the league regular season next Friday at Harry S Truman at 7 p.m.
