Members of the Montgomery County Special Olympics competed at the 50th Anniversary State games at Penn State recently.

Six athletes from the Montgomery County Special Olympics Gymnastics team (based at the Hatboro Area YMCA) traveled to the PA State Games in early June. This year marked the 50th anniversary of the Special Olympics. 

Coaches, Darlene Malone, Pat Dingley and Dan Greenwood traveled with the athletes, along with student volunteer coach Maddie Pietro. 

Female Artistic participants were: Kara Devlin (Horsham), Melissa Dingley (Philadelphia), and Abigail Woodling (Abington) who won five gold medals.

Men Artistic participants: Michael Paulinski of (Willow Grove), Christian White of (Cheltenham), and Alex Stauffer (Hatboro) who also won multiple gold medals. 

The highlight of the competition was Alex Stauffer Level 2, Melissa Dingley Level 3, and Abigail Woodling Level 2 winning all gold medals.
