ROXBOROUGH >> Green Woods Charter School’s board of directors has announced the selection of Debi Durso to lead the K-8 public charter school effective July 1.
After a competitive CEO search process, Durso was selected for her broad experience and personal commitment to both education and charter schools.
“We are confident that Debi is the right person to lead Green Woods into a bright and successful future,” said Chelsea Badeau, GWCS board chair. “Her passion, combined with her extensive background and experience in education, make her the perfect leader to help our school reach its true potential.”

She has served in a variety of roles at Mastery Charter Schools, a network of 26 schools in Philadelphia and Camden, including teaching and leading at both elementary and secondary schools. In addition to her daily work with principals, Durso leads professional development sessions focused on best practices in classroom management, curriculum execution and leadership development for both teachers and educational leaders.
She started her career as an English teacher in the School District of Philadelphia and a college coordinator for Philadelphia Futures.
She holds a B.A. in English from Shippensburg University, an M.S. in counseling from Widener University and an M.S. in Educational Leadership from Chestnut Hill College.
