TELFORD — Carpenters erected a large platform on the West Telford school grounds to be used every Wednesday evening in practice for community sings. The proceeds are to be used for the Soldiers' Welcome Home Fund.
PERKASIE — Ralph Keller has been honorably discharged from the Army. The parental greetings were joyous and eager, since their boy had been one of the first to get into the service and see overseas service.
TOWN TOPICS — The Sophomore Class of the High School had a delightful time on an outing to Spring Mount on Wednesday ... The employees of the Schoeneman Co. coat factory, of which L. L. Woodhead is the superintendent, last Saturday had a very pleasant outing to the Perkiomen creek, in the vicinity of Graterford.
FROM ALL SECTIONS — When Samuel Morgan, of Slatington, pleaded guilty in the Lehigh Court to abusing his wife and failing to properly support her and their 11 children, Judge Groman imposed a sentence of $5 fine and one year's imprisonment, the jail term to begin on the day that Morgan breaks his promise to abstain from the use of liquor, which he said was the cause of his trouble.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY — Among the chicks hatched by a bantam hen owned by Mrs. William Connell, of Pottstown, was one with three legs.

BOARD NAMES PRINCIPAL FOR LOWER SALFORD SCHOOL — Lowell A. Tinner, 504 Welsh rd., Ambler MR, was appointed to fill the principalship vacated by Raloy E. Brown, who left the Lower Salford school in Harleysville to take a job in the Cheltenham school district ... Robert W. Godshall, chairman of the building and maintenance committee, told the board that the addition at the E. M. Crouthamel elementary School is progressing as expected. He also presented a proposal designed to relieve congestion between the School lane parking lot in front of the high school and Broad street.
OLD FASHIONED DAYS UNDER WAY, TOWN READY FOR LARGE CROWDS — Souderton is girding for the crush of thousands of extra shoppers this weekend during Old Fashioned Days which started this morning (Thursday) with sidewalk sales and merchants dressed in old fashioned costume.
SHOPPING CENTER HOLDS SIDEWALK SALE — Along with the many bargains offered will be 5¢ hotdogs and 5¢ 7-up in the parking lot Fri. & Sat.
GRAND OPENING CONTINUES AT I.G. ROSENBERGER'S — The eight-day festivities will be climaxed by the attendance of Congressman Edward "Pete" Biester. The Lansdale radio station will conduct interviews ... The events leading to the current grand opening for their expanded facilities began more than sixty years ago with the original store located in the heart of Silverdale.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY TO BEGIN FOOD STAMP PROGRAM — More than 75 grocers from throughout Montgomery County will be taking part when the Federal Food Stamp Program starts in the County next Tuesday, July 1.
The stamp plan will replace the County's surplus food program that has been distributing surplus government commodities for the past several years to eligible County families.
