Fifty-six Elkins Park School students traveled to the Holocaust Museum in Philadelphia last month, accompanied by their teacher, Lise Marlowe.

Marlowe is a board member of the Holocaust Museum and serves as the head of its education committee. She designed the trip to expose the sixth-graders to the stories and real life tragedies of the Holocaust.

While there, students met with Renate Breslow, a Holocaust survivor who is the topic of a book published by Marlowe titled “Renate: The Jewish Child Who Escaped Nazi Germany.” The students heard all about Breslow’s life growing up in Nazi Germany and were able to ask her questions about what it was like to survive the Holocaust.
