CHELTENHAM — Cheltenham Musical Theater will stage “Urinetown: The Musical” April 11 to 13 in Stretton Hall at Cheltenham High School, 500 Rices Mill Road, Wyncote.
“Urinetown: The Musical” tells of a future when a water shortage has made private toilets a thing of the past. Urine Good Co., led by Caldwell B. Cladwell, has gained a monopoly on public toilets and charges citizens for “the privilege to pee.” The nefarious CEO enriches his company and exiles renegades to an unknown fate in Urinetown. Meanwhile, Hope Cladwell, the leader’s daughter, works with hero Bobby Strong to liberate the public from capitalist oppression.
The cast tells a witty story satirizing musical theater conventions with irreverent, tongue-in-cheek humor.
This production is recommended for ages 10 and up.
Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students.
