ABINGTON >> As the spring season hits its peak, Abington Township has plenty to share with residents over the coming weeks.
The Roslyn Pet Fair will be held Saturday, June 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Church of the Living Word, 1250 Easton Road.
The fair will support the Cat & Kitten Food Drive for the SPCA and the Canned Fruit Drive for the Aid for Friends program. All proceeds from the event will go to animal rescues.
Food from Roslyn’s R&R Caribbean Cuisine will be provided, as well as raffle prizes and music.
“We are a very animal-friendly community,” Commissioner Lori Schreiber said. “We have a dog park, anti-tethering laws and a dog ordinance. We’re proud to be hosting the Pet Fair. Needless to say, pets are welcome at the event.”
“The Pet Fair is the only event of its kind in Abington Township,” Commissioner John Spiegelman said.
In other matters, PECO will host an open house on Wednesday, May 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Great Hall of Arcadia University. The open house will address resident and customer concerns about storm responses in the area.
“I think it’s a worthwhile cause, but I’m dissatisfied with the time allotted to the open house,” Commissioner Tom Hecker said. “I don’t think PECO is giving enough time to concerned residents.”
Other coming events include:
• A spring cleanup will be held Saturday, May 19, from 9 a.m. to noon on Hallowell Field on Highland Avenue.
• Roslyn Community Day will be held Saturday, June 2.
