in Historic Sugartown’s Bindery
Advanced Paper Marbling Workshop
Saturday, February 22nd
9AM – 2PM
(Malvern, PA) Discover the art of marbling at Historic Sugartown’s Book Bindery in the new Advanced Paper Marbling workshop. Marbling, developed by the Persians, is the art of floating and designing watercolors on a base fluid then permanently transferring the design to paper. This advanced class covers common uncombed patterns from the first half of the 19th century and earlier. We will use modern pigments as well as explore the grinding and making some of our own pigments as we learn Shell, Stormont, Glouster, Italian Hair vein and other period uncombed patterns. Instructor Robin Ashby, of ColonialBindery.com, will lead the class through each step of this ancient art. Participants will take home their finished paper creations.
