NORRISTOWN — A Philadelphia man faces some jail time, probation and a psychosexual evaluation after he exposed his genitals to others in Upper Moreland.
Daniel Jordan Maier, 24, of the 300 block of Princeton Avenue, was sentenced in Montgomery County Court to 3 to 12 months in the county jail after he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of indecent exposure and open lewdness in connection with a July 2019 incident.
Judge Steven T. O’Neill, who accepted a plea agreement in the case, ordered Maier to report to the jail on Feb. 21 to begin serving the sentence. Maier also faces two years of probation following parole, meaning he will be under court supervision for three years.
O’Neill said Maier also must undergo a psychosexual risk assessment as a condition of the sentence.
An investigation of Maier began about 6:10 a.m. June 13 when Upper Moreland police responded to a report of a male exposing himself at the intersection of York Road and Church Street in the Willow Grove section of the township.
A witness told police he was stopped in his vehicle at a traffic signal at the intersection when he observed Maier standing at the intersection and exposing his penis and masturbating, according to the criminal complaint filed by Upper Moreland Police Officer Timothy Lynch. The witness said Maier engaged in the conduct as an unidentified female was crossing York Street.
“The complainant stated that he was shocked at first and then immediately felt disgusted,” Lynch alleged in the arrest affidavit, adding the witness immediately called police.
Police subsequently detained Maier near the intersection.
By pleading guilty to the charges, Maier admitted that he exposed his genitals in a public place and committed a lewd act under circumstances in which he knew it would offend or alarm others.
Another charge of disorderly conduct was dismissed against Maier.
