WEST NORRITON — A West Norriton man must answer to charges in Montgomery County Court that he possessed child pornography.

Galdino De La Cruz, 32, of the unit block of Liberty Avenue, according to court records, waived his preliminary hearing on Monday before District Court Judge Marc A. Alfarano on multiple felony counts of possessing child pornography in connection with alleged incidents that occurred between June and August. De La Cruz will now be scheduled for trial on the charges in county court.

De La Cruz remains in the county jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail while awaiting trial.

The investigation of De La Cruz began on June 25 when county detectives received a CyberTip from Facebook regarding the alleged uploading of five videos depicting bestiality, including one involving a girl between the ages of 10 and 12, according to the criminal complaint. The Facebook account was traced to De La Cruz and his residence in West Norriton, where detectives met the defendant.

A subsequent forensic analysis performed on De La Cruz’s cellphone uncovered 18 images and one video depicting children between the ages of 4 and 12 engaging in sexual acts, according to the criminal complaint filed by county Detective Kathleen Kelly.

At the time of De La Cruz’s arrest last month, District Attorney Kevin R. Steele said county detectives and specially sworn detectives from police departments countywide routinely work with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force to protect children from alleged internet predators who exploit children.
