MANAYUNK >> The Fall StrEAT Food Festival will return to Manayunk for its first-ever evening edition Thursday, Sept. 14, from 5 to 10 p.m. with more than 70 different food vendors along Main Street to kick off Manayunk Restaurant Week, which will run from Friday, Sept. 15, to Thursday, Sept. 28.

Main Street will be closed to vehicle traffic for this rain-or-shine event, giving visitors of all ages an opportunity to stroll through the neighborhood and indulge in some food truck cuisine.

Vendors who create an apple dish will participate in a contest where three of the area’s foodies will be judging.

In addition to food trucks, visitors can enjoy three stages with live music playing all day located at Shurs Lane, Green Lane and Cotton Street.

Aside from driving to Main Street, event coordinators encourage attendees to consider other forms of transportation like SEPTA, taxis, Uber, Lyft and riding or walking to Manayunk via the Circuit Trails.

“Our StrEAT Food Festivals have been wildly successful over the last five years, but we wanted to change it up this time,” Jane Lipton, executive director of the Manayunk Development Corp., said. “We welcome the after-work crowd to come to Main Street for dinner. We’re excited to have some of the same great food vendors line the street for our evening edition.

“I’m also very excited about this fall’s Restaurant Week lineup,” Lipton added. “It’s a great way for people to come to Manayunk and try something new. We’ve had a lot of new restaurants come in since last fall, like SOMO. But, you can never go wrong with Manayunk staples, such as Jake’s and Cooper’s Wine Bar and Bourbon Blue.”

Manayunk Restaurant Week allows local restaurants to highlight exclusive three-course meals at $15, $25 and $35 price points. Many of the participating restaurants use Restaurant Week to showcase their fall menus and other seasonal dishes. For a complete list of Restaurant Week menus, visit
