CRIMINAL CASES — It cost Mrs. Annie Walker $106.03, and she was also sentenced to 10 days in jail, for striking Mrs. Marjorie Murray on the head and face with a soda water bottle when the two women got into an argument in front of the Walker home in Crestmont, on April 7th last ... Gerarado Rossina was picked up as a suspicious character one night by the Cheltenham police. On his person, when searched, were found a revolver, blackjack, stiletto, gun, two boxes of cartridges. Sentence, four months.

BANDIT SHOOTS BICYCLIST — Robert T. Roth, 18 years old, of Red Hill, was shot in a hip Tuesday night while near Pennsburg, riding a bicycle. He said three shots were fired at him when he failed to obey the orders of two men to stop, but only one of the bullets took effect. He rode to the office of a physician, who dressed the wound and then was taken to the Allentown Hospital, where an X-ray showed the wound not serious.
TYPHOID CAUSES CONCERN AT WALNUTPORT — Already there are 40 patients, two of whom died ... There has been talk of isolating the town, but it is not expected that such a drastic step will be taken unless the situation becomes worse.
BOY IS KILLED IN A TENT — As a result of a severe electrical storm which passed over Allentown, Tuesday afternoon, Elmer, 13-year-old son of William Holmes, of North Catasauqua, is dead, and William, 11-year-old son of George Dougherty, is in a precarious condition. The boys went into a tent on a vacant lot near their homes to seek shelter and had been there but a few minutes when the tent was struck by lightning and collapsed.

OLD FASHIONED DAYS TERMED 'SUCCESSFUL' — Most merchants reported crowds as large as any in past years, and many called the overflow crowd on Thursday the best they had ever seen on that day in any year since Old Fashioned Days was started.
PENNRIDGE BUDGET AT RECORD $7.87 MILLION — In other action, the board approved educational specifications for its proposed new high school despite some concern over its move to establish an open-space building ... Open-space is a relatively new concept in school construction which features few, if any, permanent interior walls. Classrooms are divided by means of temporary dividers. The advantage to open-space facilities is the flexibility in programs and arrangements.
ANOTHER ACCIDENT AT BYPASS TERMINUS — Five persons narrowly escaped serious injury and death, Monday, in an automobile accident at the intersection of the Route 309 Bypass and Bergey road, Hilltown Township ... The scene of the accident has been termed a "death trap" by Hilltown Township Police Chief Blair Boose. The most recent accident at the intersection was just one more in a growing series of accidents taking place at the seven-lane intersection.
POSTAL EMPLOYEE RETIRES AFTER 35 YEARS — Thirty-five Souderton postal employees and guests attended a retirement dinner for Clarence Wismer, Green St., Souderton, held June 19 at the Souderton Legion Home ... Prior to the construction of the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, Wismer recalled that he used to travel about 18 miles per day, six days a week for approximately 10 years. After the turnpike extension was completed, his route was cut to 30 miles a day, six days a week. Down through the years (approximately 20), Wismer logged 234,000 miles without an accident.
