AN ODD FELLOW FOR 50 YEARS — Reuben G. Hengey, of Telford, was in town on Saturday evening, July 17th, and celebrated the 50th anniversary of his initiation into the Odd Fellows Lodge ... Although Mr. Hengey is 73 years old, he is well and healthy. He is a shoemaker and for many years has been in business in Telford.

BURNED WASPS - BARN, TOO — Fire caused by a son of Augustus Reichard attempting to destroy a wasps' nest with a torch destroyed the barn on the senior Reichard's farm, at Bally, Wednesday, causing a loss of $1,000.

TELFORD — H. C. Derstine has the contract to furnish the 150,000 bricks for the new Snellenberger clothing factory to be built in Souderton. Operations are to be started in the near future ... H. W. Kuhn, the Buick dealer, and John D. Souder, west of town, and James B. Derstine, of Souderton, went to Detroit to bring three new Buick cars to this place.

SELLERSVILLE — Garret Hilton and John Green took a three-day trip along the Hudson in Hilton's motorcycle and side car outfit. They had a very enjoyable trip and enjoyed the scenery immensely, also the good roads of New York. 

GETS DIVORCE AFTER 36 YEARS — Mrs. Raudenbush blamed all her domestic infelicity upon whiskey and her husband's aversion to work, testifying "I dislike to say, from the time we were first married he developed a disposition to permit me to do most of the work and he would spend most of his money and some of mine for whiskey."

INDIAN VALLEY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FORMED, JOINS SOUDERTON-TELFORD GROUPS — It has been set up to serve what business leaders have long considered a need for a unified business organization that would work for the interests of the area — that now is the goal of the Indian Valley Chamber of Commerce. 

SOLICITORS FINED FOR LACK OF PERMITS — Souderton police have fined four encyclopedia salesmen over the past several weeks, all for door-to-door selling in the borough without solicitor's permits. 

OFFICE SPACE PROVIDED FOR OPPORTUNITY COUNCIL — The recently-formed Indian Valley Opportunity Committee was offered a base of operations at Monday evening's meeting of the Souderton Area School Board.

Following a presentation by Rev. Willard Wetzel, pastor of Zwingli UCC in Souderton and acting chairman of the committee, the board voted to provide the committee with an office and a desk for a year ... Rev. Wetzel said the committee had grown out of the personal concern and involvement of members of his congregation who, in aiding several families in need, came to the realization of the larger need in the community to combat causes of economic and social deprivation.

COUGHLIN URGES $20,000 LIMIT ON FARM SUBSIDIES — In a speech on the House floor, the Montgomery County Congressman said the limit — which would affect only a few Pennsylvania farmers moderately — would help restore the Congress' credibility as a responsive and responsible institution of government ... "The millionaire farmer and the corporate farmer do not merit nor should they receive the largesse of government tax monies contributed by citizens who are already cornfield-high in Federal, state and local taxes."

NEW COUNTY BROCHURE IS NOW AVAILABLE — Literally going from A to Z, the sprightly pamphlet lists 26 hotels/motels in the County as well as the many attractions available to the visitor to Montgomery County.

A colorful map is featured inside the brochure. On it are pin-pointed 33 attractions, all the motels and hotels and the eight County airports.
