The 2020 field hockey season was a good one in the Reporter/Times Herald/Montgomery media area with a number of teams reaching district and state championship games. Unfortunately, the local teams were on the wrong side of tightly-contested title matches.

HARLEYSVILLE >> When North Penn’s Justin Pileggi sunk a 12-foot putt on the ninth green Tuesday afternoon at Lederach Golf Course, he pumped his fist. He set a goal for himself to shoot under-40 every match this season and his final stroke secured a three-over 39.

UPPER GWYNEDD — Matt Cavagnaro doesn’t get to bat right-handed too often. Skippack’s switch hitter estimates he only hits from that side of the plate around 25% of the time due to a lack of left-handed pitchers in the Perkiomen Valley Twilight League, but he still works on it as much as he can.

Isabella Brown has played for the Philadelphia Soccer Club for four years. Her teammates have been the same for the past two or three years and last week the Coppa Rage achieved their greatest accomplishment – finishing second in the U16 United States National Championship Series in Bradenton, Florida.

Nor-Gwyn led 3-2 after scoring twice in the top of the fifth inning but Wyomissing rallied to knocked the Hawks out of the Pennsylvania American Legion Region 2 Tournament, the Warriors claiming a 4-3 walk-off victory Sunday afternoon at West Lawn’s Owls Field at Ted Palka Park.
